TRAUMA AWARENESS DAY & TRAUMA AWARENESS WEEK

Preamble: Keeping in mind ASI President Dr. Pravin Suryavanshi's call for recognition of trauma
and highway-accident awareness, KSC–ASI launched focused trauma activities through 2025.
The state organisation responded strongly after the tragic road-traffic death of our colleague,
Dr. Manjunath Shenoy. Chairman Dr. K. Rajgopal Shenoy made trauma awareness a priority
from the start of his tenure.
During the year, KSC–ASI introduced separate Trauma sessions at Midcon (Kanachur IMS, Mangalore) with
prizes awarded as the Late Dr. Manjunath Memorial Prizes. The EC and city-branch surgeons
agreed to prioritise RTA-related awareness and activities — including ALS & BLS training — and to run
a focused Trauma Awareness Week from 13–18 October.
Below is a brief summary of highlights and activities conducted across branches during the week:
- Public awareness rallies and road-safety talks at schools and market places
- Hands-on BLS / ALS training for first responders and volunteers
- Workshops on pre-hospital care and basic trauma life support
- Poster & paper sessions on trauma at Midcon with Dr. Manjunath Memorial prizes
- Coordination with local hospitals and traffic police for future joint initiatives
Health Awareness & Checkup Camp - Chandanagiri Haadi
- Date: 6th April 2025
- Event: Health Awareness & Checkup Camp - Chandanagiri Haadi
KSC ASI through SSM ASI city branch in association with IMA Hunsur branch conducted Health awarenes and Health checkup camp for Tribals of Chandana giri Haadi , Neralkuppe, Hunsur Taluk on 06.04.2025 frmr 9.30am at Tribal school and it's premesis.
Dr.H.N. Dinesh,President SSM ASI welcomed all,
Dr. Rajgopal Shenoy.K.Chairman KSC ASI inaugurated the program and addressed the tribal people regarding Oral Cancer. He stressed on the ill effects of Tobacco, paan used alog with beatle leaves, Smoking. He also spoke on Oral hygiene.
He felt very happy to hear his favourite song sung by Tribal kids ಜಯ ಭಾರತ ಜನನಿಯ ತನುಜಾತೆ.
Dr. Preethi gave awareness on Breast cancer and along with other lady Doctors taught about self Breast examination to all tribal women. General health checkup done to 92 Tribal people of all ages . Drugs prescribed were distributed.
Tribal leaders and people felt very happy , expressed their gratitude. Vote of thanks done by Dr.Chandrashekar.S.
KSC ASI also thanks Dr. Sudhakar and Dr. Sunanda couple as a token of gratitude for arrangements to conduct the rural camp in the Tribal area.
Dr.Capt. L.Ramachandra. President Udupi city branch of KSC ASI guest of honour Wil be donating a steel almera to the PHC Neralkuppe to keep their necessary important documents. This will be executed very soon.
